The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), Washim, held a programme focused on safeguarding Waqf properties, including mosques, madrasas, graveyards, and Eidgahs, in the district. The event brought together legal experts, scholars, and community leaders to discuss the importance of protecting these assets and their potential for empowering the Muslim community.
Advocate Shoaib Inamdar, Secretary of APCR Maharashtra, highlighted the necessity of legal awareness and accurate documentation for Waqf properties. He assured the community of APCR’s support in providing legal guidance and urged proactive efforts to rectify documents for future needs.
Mr. Abdul Rauf, former Chairman of Maharashtra Waqf Board, explained how proper utilisation of Waqf properties could uplift underprivileged Muslims by addressing their educational, economic, and social needs. He elaborated on the duties of Waqf committees and stressed their role in community welfare.
Former Principal District Judge Bashir Shaikh emphasised linking Waqf properties to community service. Drawing examples from institutions like Aligarh Muslim University, he suggested using mosques as hubs for tackling unemployment, educational gaps, and healthcare issues.
Maulana Tasleem Mazahiri called for reviving the essence of Waqf for public welfare. He urged the community to emulate the practices of the Prophet’s Companions in serving humanity.
The programme concluded with an interactive session addressing audience queries, followed by closing remarks from Shaikh Waqar, who stressed unity and collective action. He underscored initiatives like interest-free banking and the establishment of Medina Market as steps toward economic empowerment.
