Aligarh: Dr. Syed Ali Nawaz Zaidi, Professor in the Department of Law and Deputy Proctor at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), delineated the major issues of AI applications in multidisciplinary research, in an online international conference, hosted by the Education Research Technology and Human Welfare Organization (ERTHWO), in collaboration with Hensard University, Nigeria.
Discussing the predictive legal analytics, Prof Zaidi said AI systems are being deployed to analyse historical case data, legal precedents, and jurisdictional rulings to predict case outcomes.
“For instance, tools like ROSS Intelligence use natural language processing to provide instant legal research, enabling lawyers to craft stronger arguments. Predictive analytics is also being used in bail and sentencing decisions, helping courts make informed choices”, he noted.
Prof Zaidi also highlighted the use of AI-powered tools in efficient legal research that scan thousands of cases in seconds, identifying relevant precedents, statutes, and regulations. This efficiency allows lawyers to focus more on strategic planning and less on routine tasks.
The AMU Professor emphasised that AI technologies are also streamlining administrative tasks in law firms, such as contract drafting, document review, and compliance monitoring.
The event conducted by Dr. Naima Umar, Director, ERTHWO, featured specialists and academics globally to examine the revolutionary effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all industries.
