New Delhi: Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, National President of the Urdu Development Organisation (UDO), has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, urging efforts to preserve the Indian language Urdu and promote education based on moral values. Dr. Khan reminded the Rajasthan government that Urdu is not only an integral part of India’s linguistic heritage but also enjoys immense popularity across the country. Even today, Urdu is read, written, and spoken in every corner of India.
He emphasised that Urdu has played a significant role in promoting Hindi as well and urged the state’s education department to move beyond narrow perspectives and support this popular language. He demanded the cancellation of the order issued by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education on January 17, which mandates the merger of Urdu medium schools into Hindi medium, to ensure the survival of Urdu medium institutions.
