Urdu Poetry Lecture Highlights Cultural Unity at Jhalawar College

Jhalawar: The Urdu Department of Government PG College, Jhalawar, Rajasthan, organised a lecture on “Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb in Urdu Poetry: The Fragrance of Unity and Harmony” during the Republic Day week.

Chairing the programme, Principal Prof. Phoolsingh emphasised Urdu as a crucial element of cultural heritage that strengthens national unity.

Chief Guest Dr. Shamshad Ali from Government College Baran stressed the importance of communal harmony and Hindu-Muslim unity, which Urdu poetry has historically promoted.

Programme coordinator Assistant Professor Fahimuddin Tonki underscored the message of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb: unity and love form the essence of India.

Dr. Ramkishan Mali and Dr. Kamlesh Verma honoured the principal and chief guest with garlands and traditional safas.

Professors Hamid Ahmed and Iqbal Fatima delivered vote of thanks.

Faculty members included Professors Alka Bagla, Ashok Kanwar Shekhawat, Arzuman Qureshi, Om Prakash Bairawa, RK Gupta, and Manish Chauhan.

Local poets and writers included Rakesh Nair, Suresh Nigam, Harish Chandra Sharma, Habib, Krishna Singh Hada, and others. Besides, students and literature enthusiasts also participated in the programme.

The event celebrated Urdu poetry’s role in promoting cultural unity and harmony, embodying the spirit of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.
