New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his political attack on both BJP and AAP during a rally in Okhla constituency on Tuesday evening in support of Ariba Khan.
Addressing the gathering, Gandhi framed the contest as a battle of ideologies. He asserted that India is home to two distinct ideological camps – one led by RSS-BJP, and the other by Congress. He emphasised that while the Congress is committed to safeguarding the Constitution, which upholds the rights of every citizen, BJP is actively working to dismantle it. He further stated that Congress will continue to resist divisive politics and never allow BJP to alter the Constitution.
“We are witnessing an ideological conflict,” he declared. “On one side stand Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and on the other is Congress. Most other political parties lack a clear ideological foundation,” he said, in a veiled attack on AAP.
He emphasised, “As the BJP intensifies its campaign of hatred and establishes more avenues for animosity, we will counter by creating more platforms for love and unity.”
Taking a direct swipe at AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Gandhi accused him of preaching clean politics while presiding over what he called Delhi’s biggest “liquor scam” during his tenure. He further criticised Kejriwal’s indulgence in “sheesh mahal politics,” referring to alleged extravagant expenditures.
Commenting on other opposition parties, Gandhi questioned their reluctance to confront Modi but singled out Kejriwal as particularly fearful.
