Probe Report on IPS Officer Ilma Afroz Submitted to Himachal Assembly Secretariat

Himachal Pradesh Police have submitted a probe report on the breach of privilege allegations against IPS officer Ilma Afroz to the state Assembly Secretariat. The report, prepared by DIG Abhishek Dullar, will be reviewed by the privileges committee of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
The controversy began during the monsoon session last year when Doon Congress MLA Ram Kumar Chaudhary accused Afroz, then the SP of Baddi, of misusing her authority and violating his personal secrecy. However, sources indicate that the dispute stemmed from Afroz’s strict crackdown on illegal mining, including action against machinery linked to the MLA’s wife.
Following the allegations, Afroz proceeded on leave in November and was later transferred to the state police headquarters in Shimla in December. She has not yet received a new posting. Meanwhile, a plea filed in the Himachal Pradesh High Court argues that she was pressured into taking leave and that her absence led to a rise in law-and-order issues.
Afroz, a 2018-batch officer known for her tough stance against illegal mining, drugs, and organized crime, now awaits the findings of the privileges committee, which will determine the next course of action based on the sealed report.
