Aligarh: The Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a literary programme featuring student and research scholar presentations of articles, ghazals, and short stories. The event, attended by faculty and students, provided a platform for creative expression and literary engagement.
Short story writer Professor Tariq Chattari attended the occasion as the chief guest. Also present were Professor Quamrul Hooda Faridi (Chairman, Department of Urdu), Professor Muhammad Ali Jauhar, Professor Siraj Ajmali, Dr. Moidur Rehman, and Dr. Aftab Alam.
Students including Sumayya Iqbal, Shahida Shafeeq, Mohd. Farid, Farheen Shakeel, Syed Kausar Bukhari, Safia Layal, Tahir Hussain, Fahmina Ali, Sabir Riyaz, Maryam Mukhtar, Saddam Hussain, and Seema captivated the audience with their creative works. Faculty members Dr. Ahsan Ayyubi presented a Persian short story translation, while Dr. Sarfaraz Anwer recited a ghazal.
Professor Chattari emphasised that literary programmes act as laboratories for students, promoting creativity. He highlighted the relationship between literature and science, underlining literature’s role in cultural preservation. Professor Faridi encouraged students to explore diverse literary forms, expressing satisfaction with their engagement in creative writing.
