AMU-ZHCET Hosts DST-Sponsored Industrial Training Programme on Renewable Energy

Aligarh: The Department of Electrical Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), inaugurated a two-week Industrial Training Programme on “Recent Advancements in Solar and Wind Energy Systems for Sustainable Development”, sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology.

The programme, coordinated by Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, is funded through his R&D grant of Rs. 1.27 Crores.

The inaugural session was graced by Mr. Saurabh Dalela, Director, ICAT, Ministry of Heavy Industry, as the Chief Guest, with Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Former Vice-Chancellor, AMU, presiding over the event.

Prof. Yusuf Uzzaman Khan, Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Sheeraz Kirmani provided insights into the training programme’s objectives. Prof. Mohammad Muzammil, Principal, ZHCET, and Prof. Nesar Ahmad, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, highlighted the significance of renewable energy in addressing global sustainability challenges.

In his address, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez commended Dr. Kirmani’s efforts in organising the training on a critical contemporary issue. Mr. Saurabh Dalela underscored the need to bridge the gap between industry and academia and discussed emerging technologies in renewable energy and electrified transportation.

This two-week training programme aims to equip participants with knowledge on cutting-edge advancements in solar and wind energy systems, promoting sustainable development and industry-academia collaboration.
