New Delhi: The Centre for Theoretical Physics at Jamia Millia Islamia hosted the sixth V.V. Narlikar Memorial Lecture, honoring the pioneering contributions of Professor Vishnu Vasudev Narlikar to theoretical physics and cosmology.
Professor Tarun Souradeep, Director of the Raman Research Institute, delivered the keynote lecture on “CMB as a Probe of Cosmic Origin,” unraveling insights into the early universe through Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) studies. He discussed the role of CMB anisotropies, gravitational waves, and advanced observational techniques in understanding the universe’s evolution.
Following this, Professor Tabish Qureshi provided an overview of the Centre’s research activities, while Professor H.S. Adhikari elaborated on the outstanding contributions of Professor V.V. Narlikar to the field of physics.
The event witnessed active participation from faculty, students, and researchers from Jamia Millia Islamia, NSUT, and DTU. Concluding with an engaging Q&A session, the lecture reinforced the importance of precision cosmology in contemporary astrophysical research. The memorial series serves to enable academic discourse and inspire young physicists.
