Muslim, Dalit, Sikh Groups Plan Nationwide Campaign on Waqf, UCC, Places of Worship Act, Constitutional, Civil Rights

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Bhartiya Bahujan Alliance, Sikh Personal Law Board announced a nationwide campaign during a regional workshop on ‘Constitutional, Civil Rights’, covering Waqf, UCC, Places of Worship Act, held on Saturday at the Indian Society for International Law, New Delhi.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness on constitutional, civil rights, challenges faced by Muslims, Dalits, Sikhs, Christians, Tribals, and ensure political, social justice through collective efforts.

The national campaign will launch from New Delhi in April, with programs in major cities to protect constitutional rights, including Waqf, UCC, Places of Worship Act, and safeguard all communities’ rights.

S.Q.R. Ilyas, workshop convener, stated, “Muslim organizations reject the Waqf Amendment Bill, believing it aims to seize Waqf land. The UCC impacts all communities, not just Muslims. It’s implemented in Uttarakhand, with efforts to introduce it elsewhere. The government’s dream project includes Ram Mandir, Article 370, UCC. This workshop marks the beginning of the fight.”**

Obaidullah Khan Azmi, Ex-MP, scholar, said, “The government is taking our constitutional rights. We won’t surrender. We’ll fight till our last breath.”

Sardar Jagmohan Singh, Sikh Personal Law Board, urged Muslims, Sikhs, other groups to support each other’s personal laws, stating, “United, we can fight for our identity.”

Advocate Suresh Mane, Bhartiya Bahujan Alliance, announced workshops in Mumbai (Feb 25), Bangalore (March 8), Kolkata (March 23), with a huge protest in April to steer the national campaign.

Maulana Mohammed Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, AIMPLB General Secretary, presiding over the session, hoped the workshop transforms into a national movement, calling for a “second freedom struggle” to protect constitutional, civil rights.

Speakers included Rajkumar Saini (Ex-MP), Ram Bux Varma (Ex-MP), Advocate M.R. Shamshad, Dr. B.D. Ashok (Retd IAS), Professor Mohd Suleman, Dr. Velaram, Maulana Usmai, journalist Muzaffar Ghazali.

Many speakers warned that if Waqf properties are seized today, Sikhs, Dalits, Christians, Jains, Tribals will face the same tomorrow. Unity is crucial to defend rights together.
