Telangana Govt Allows Muslim Employees to Leave Early for Ramzan; BJP Calls It ‘Appeasement Politics’

Hyderabad: The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has permitted Muslim employees in state departments, public sector units, and educational institutions to leave offices an hour early during the month of Ramzan. According to the directive, from March 2 to March 31, 2025, Muslim employees can leave at 4 PM instead of 5 PM to facilitate prayer and other religious observances.
The decision applies to all Muslim employees, including teachers, contract and outsourcing staff, and those working in boards and corporations.
However, the move has sparked controversy, with the BJP accusing the Congress-led government of “appeasement politics.” BJP MLA T Raja Singh claimed that the Congress secured power through Muslim votes and called the decision divisive. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya criticized the government, arguing that no similar concessions are granted to Hindus during Navratri fasting.
Meanwhile, in a separate issue, CM Revanth Reddy has directed officials to file a complaint with the central government against Andhra Pradesh for allegedly shifting Krishna River water resources unilaterally.
