Virajpet: Recognizing shared values among religions is crucial for peace, said Dr. Belgami during his visit to Kalchuri Matt.
Shri Shantha Malikarjun Swamy, the chief priest, warmly welcomed Dr. Belgami and praised Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s efforts in promoting harmony. He stated that all religions teach love, brotherhood, and peace, and it is our duty to uphold these values to eliminate hatred. He stressed that interfaith dialogue is essential for a peaceful society.
Dr. Belgami highlighted the major challenges today—hatred, intolerance, and misunderstandings. He emphasized that understanding each other’s religion, culture, and traditions is key. Acknowledging shared values like truthfulness, honesty, justice, kindness, and service to humanity can foster peace, he added.
He also quoted Muhammad’s (PBUH) advice to respect and treat all groups and religions well.
Swamy agreed with Dr. Belgami’s thoughts. The meeting ended with a commitment to continue interfaith dialogues for love and tolerance.
