Bengaluru: Masjid Ateeq in Tank Garden hosted a unique competition, challenging children to attend Fajr prayer with the first Takbeer (Takbeer-e-Ula) for 40 consecutive days. Organized by Mujahid Pasha, the initiative aimed to instill discipline, promote health, and strengthen Islamic values. Children completing the challenge received a high-quality bicycle.
Out of 220 participants, 160 succeeded, as missing even one prayer led to elimination. A special ceremony at AMC Royal Palace awarded winners in the presence of Maulana Maqsood Imran, Mufti Iftikhar Qasmi, and SDPI leader Abdul Hannan. The children’s excitement reflected their dedication.
Parents actively participated, accompanying children to the mosque. Initially launched in JP Nagar and Jayanagar, the program encouraged discipline while deterring negative influences.
Starting on January 1 and concluding on February 9, the competition required strict attendance, ensuring children arrived before the first Takbeer. Focusing on Fajr helped instill early rising, discipline, and spirituality.
With the motto “Healthy Children, Healthy Nation,” the initiative promoted both physical and mental well-being. Organizers addressed rising drug use among youth, running anti-drug campaigns alongside the competition.
Children who didn’t complete the challenge received footballs, school bags, and lunchboxes as consolation prizes. Mujahid Pasha clarified it was a community-driven effort, not political.
Inspired by its success, calls for similar programs across Bengaluru are growing. Organizers believe continued efforts will nurture a generation committed to faith and discipline, positively impacting families and the community.
