New Delhi | A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has revealed that the BJP received ₹4,340.47 crore in funding during the financial year 2023-24, accounting for 74.57% of total political donations. The Congress, which ranked second, secured ₹1,225.21 crore. Reacting to the report, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has urged political parties to ensure financial transparency and adopt value-based politics.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s national vice president, Prof. Mohammad Salim Engineer, stated that corporate donations push governments toward capitalist policies. He warned that the dominance of money in politics promotes corruption, criminal activities, and communalism.
The ADR report also highlighted that the BJP spent only 50.96% of its income, while the Congress utilized 83.69% of its funds. In 2022-23, the BJP’s income stood at ₹2,360.84 crore—five times higher than the Congress. However, Congress recorded a 170% increase in its income that year.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind emphasized the need to curb the influence of money in politics to ensure transparency and accountability, thereby maintaining equal opportunities for all citizens in a democratic system.
