Yogi Adityanath Cites Mohammad Shami’s Kumbh Dip, Akhilesh Yadav Reacts

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath defended his government’s handling of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, emphasizing the extensive arrangements and dismissing opposition criticism as politically motivated. He asserted that the event welcomed people from all castes and religions, highlighting that even Indian cricketer Mohammad Shami took a ritual dip, reported the India Today.
“There was no discrimination against anyone at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Cricketer Mohammed Shami also took the holy dip. People from different castes, creeds, and religions, if they came with devotion in their hearts, also took the holy dip. Yes, those who came to mock faith were scolded and sent away,” Yogi Adityanath stated in the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
His comments came amid opposition scrutiny over the event’s organization. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav took a veiled dig at the BJP, referencing the party’s history of renaming places and events to suit its political narrative.
