Aligarh: The Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), celebrated International Mother Language Day by organising an essay writing and slogan writing competition to highlight the significance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.
Chairman of the Department, Mr. Masood Ali Beg, emphasised the role of the mother tongue in fostering creativity, communication skills, and academic excellence. Prof. Shabana Hameed discussed how the mother tongue nurtures critical thinking and strengthens cultural identity.
Faculty members, including Dr. Sabahuddin Ahmed, Dr. Nazrin B. Laskar, Dr. Abdul Aziz Khan, and Dr. Pallav Vishnu, encouraged students to take pride in their mother tongue, recognising it as an integral part of their identity.
