BJP MLA from Goshamahal, Raja Singh, has called for bulldozer action against the grave of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Addressing a gathering in Parbhani, Maharashtra, he urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take immediate steps, asserting that Hindus nationwide want Aurangzeb’s name erased from Maharashtra. Singh insisted that the Mughal ruler’s legacy should not be preserved in the state.
Along with his demand for demolishing Aurangzeb’s grave, Singh also voiced dissatisfaction with the name of Aurangabad Airport. He criticized the continued association of the city and its institutions with Aurangzeb, arguing that such historical references should be eliminated.
Singh’s remarks align with his longstanding stance against Mughal-era figures, whom he accuses of oppressing Hindus.
Beyond historical grievances, Singh also targeted underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim, urging the Maharashtra government to take strict action against his properties in the state. He called for the immediate dismantling of assets linked to the fugitive criminal, reiterating his past demands for stringent measures against figures associated with crime and terrorism.
Singh also addressed social media restrictions imposed on him, accusing Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, of deliberately silencing his voice. He alleged that the removal of social media accounts supporting him was a politically motivated move. Meta had taken action under its “dangerous individuals and organizations” policy, banning Singh’s Facebook account over a year ago and later removing his YouTube and Instagram pages. Singh claimed this was part of a broader strategy to suppress nationalist voices.
His controversial remarks have once again ignited debate. While his supporters endorse his nationalist stance, critics argue that his rhetoric fuels communal tensions.
As the political discourse on historical legacies and law enforcement intensifies, Singh’s statements are likely to remain a contentious issue in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
