Srinagar Court Orders Arrest of Jitendra Tyagi for Non-Appearance in Case Over Derogatory Remarks Against Islam, Prophet Muhammad[p.b.u.h]

A Srinagar court has issued an arrest order for Jitendra Tyagi in a case related to derogatory remarks against Islam and Prophet Muhammad. The court took this action after Tyagi failed to appear despite multiple notices.
The Judicial Magistrate of Srinagar directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to ensure his arrest and present him before the court on April 25. The case stems from a complaint against Tyagi for comments he made in Lucknow in 2021, allegedly promoting enmity and hurting religious sentiments under IPC Sections 153, 295A, and 505.
Tyagi, formerly known as Waseem Rizwi, was the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board before converting and associating himself with the Tyagi community. He had previously filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the removal of certain verses from the Quran, which led to multiple FIRs against him. Additionally, the CBI had registered two FIRs related to alleged irregularities in the sale and transfer of waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh.
