New Delhi : The Kerala High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of BJP leader PC George, who is accused of making communal and inflammatory remarks during a televised debate. Facing possible arrest, George had sought protection from the court, but his plea was dismissed.
According to reports, George had earlier approached the Kottayam District Sessions Court for anticipatory bail, but his request was denied. Following this, he moved the High Court after a complaint was lodged against him by Muslim Youth League leader Mohammad Shahab at the Erattupetta police station. Shahab’s complaint alleged that George’s statements could incite hatred between religious communities.
PC George, a former MLA, has been booked by the Kerala police under Section 120(0) of the Kerala Police Act, along with Sections 299 and 199(1)(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
