Mumbai: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Maharashtra President, Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, has condemned the shocking rape inside an MSRTC bus in Pune, demanding swift justice for the victim.
In a media statement, he expressed deep anguish, standing in solidarity with the victim and her family. He praised Pune police for swiftly arresting the accused and urged law enforcement and the judiciary to ensure a speedy trial and strict punishment. “Justice must be swift to send a strong message to potential offenders,” he emphasized.
Calling the crime a grim reminder of society’s moral decline, he stressed the need for systemic reforms to safeguard women’s dignity. He attributed rising sexual crimes to the spread of obscenity, erosion of values, and lack of ethical teachings. JIH advocates a holistic approach, including strict laws, responsible media, effective policing, and moral education. He urged religious, social, and educational institutions to work together for a society that ensures women’s safety and dignity.
