-Raheem KhanBijaynagar, Rajasthan – A shocking rape and blackmail case involving schoolgirls in Bijaynagar, Ajmer, has sparked outrage. 13 people, including three minors, have been arrested, with more arrests expected.
Former councillor Hakim Qureshi, the alleged mastermind, is in judicial custody until March 11. As he exited the Special POCSO Court on Monday, lawyers attacked him, slapping and kicking him. Police struggled to control the scene but managed to remove him safely.
The Ajmer POCSO Court sent Qureshi to jail along with nine other accused. The three minors are in a juvenile detention center. Qureshi was previously in police custody twice before being presented in court again.
As Qureshi arrived, angry lawyers gathered. Despite extra police, they attacked him as he was being escorted out. A scuffle broke out, nearly knocking down several people. Police quickly removed him and took him to Bijaynagar. This follows previous courtroom assaults on other accused.
The case started on February 15 when a minor filed a complaint at Bijaynagar police station. Another victim and three fathers later reported similar crimes. The victims, private school students, allege rape, blackmail, and forced conversion attempts. Police registered cases under the POCSO Act and other laws.
Bijaynagar police arrested 13 accused, interrogated them, and verified crime scenes. Those jailed include Sohail, Rehan, Shravan Jat, Karim, Ashiq, Lukman, Afraz, Hakim Qureshi, Javed, and cafe owner Sanwarmal.
