Shahzadi Khan’s Execution: A Cry for Justice

New Delhi – The execution of Indian national Shahzadi Khan in the UAE has devastated her family. Her father condemned the lack of justice. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Monday that the UAE informed the Indian Embassy on February 28 about her execution under local laws.
Shahzadi, a 33-year-old caregiver from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, was convicted of murdering an infant in 2022. Her family insists she was forced to confess under duress and denied a fair trial. “She was not given justice. I had no resources to fight in a foreign land,” said her father, Shabbir Khan.
Initially, there was no investigation, but a confession video surfaced months later, leading to her arrest and sentencing. Her appeals and mercy petitions failed. Despite her father’s pleas and legal efforts by the Indian Embassy, she was executed on February 15, 2025.
Her last rites are on March 5. The case highlights the struggles of Indian migrant workers, especially from marginalized backgrounds. As her family mourns, her father’s words remain: “My daughter was abandoned by the system.”
