Mohammad Aman Wins Gold in Uganda, Eyes Sri Lanka Challenge

Tonk: Mohammad Aman from Tonk won gold at the Uganda International Badminton Challenge. In the Kampala final on February 23, 2025, he and partner Dinku Singh defeated Akshan Shetty and Sankar Prasad in a three-set battle (21-14, 15-21, 17-21). The event, held from February 19-23, featured players from 30 countries. Their win boosted them to 90th in the BWF World Rankings. Next, they compete in Sri Lanka.
Aman’s father, ex-badminton player Mohammad Kamran, noticed his son’s interest early. He took him to courts instead of letting him play with toys. Aman faced early setbacks, losing in the first round of the 2012 Under-13 State Tournament in Ajmer. Learning from failure, he trained harder. In 2016, he joined a Bangalore academy and became Under-15 state runner-up. In 2017, he won his first state title in Pali. He later became North Zone runner-up and ranked 15th nationally in the Under-19 category.
In seniors, Aman reached the All India semi-finals in Pune (2022), won silver in Bareilly, and brought Rajasthan a bronze at the 38th National Games. He played in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Training in Hyderabad, Aman dreams of winning a 2028 Olympic medal. He practices badminton for six hours daily, spends two hours in the gym, and trained in Malaysia and Bangalore. His father, Kamran Ahmed, who works at Thermal Power Plant Chhabra, fully supports his journey.
