Damoh, Madhya Pradesh: In a swift action following an alleged case of cow slaughter, authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district razed the house of the accused on Friday. The incident occurred in the Sita Bauli area, where right-wing groups claimed to have received a tip-off about cow slaughter taking place in a local residence.
According to a report by the Clarion India, when members of these groups reached the site, they were allegedly met with gunfire from some butchers. The police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Mishra, quickly intervened and arrested three suspects.
“We received information about cow slaughter and reports of open firing. The police immediately responded and took three individuals into custody,” Mishra stated.
During the raid, authorities reportedly discovered a half-slaughtered cow inside the house, which was found to be carrying a four-month-old calf. The discovery fueled outrage among Hindutva groups, leading to protests and a bandh in the area. In response to mounting pressure, officials ordered the demolition of the house where the incident allegedly occurred.
Tensions remain high in Damoh, with a heavy police presence deployed to prevent further unrest. Meanwhile, the arrested individuals are being interrogated as investigations continue.
