Rahul Gandhi: Gujarat Wants to End BJP Rule

Ahmedabad: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said Gujarat’s people are desperate for an alternative after 30 years of BJP rule. Addressing Congress workers, he stressed that Gujarat needs a real alternative, not BJP’s B-team.
Gandhi noted Congress only needs a 5% vote share increase for a complete turnaround. He reminded that Gujarat gave leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel and expects Congress to provide similar leadership again.
He vowed to connect with Gujarat’s youth, farmers, traders, and laborers, as the BJP’s three-decade-old model has failed. He pointed to the decline of Gujarat’s key industries—diamond, textile, and ceramics—saying they have been destroyed.
“Gujarat is stuck and looking for a way out,” he said, adding that people want real change. He urged Congress leaders to build trust with the public, warning that some leaders secretly work for BJP and must be removed.
Congress, he asserted, is well-positioned for a comeback. Gujarat’s opposition already has 40% support, and just a 5% vote increase can turn the tables. Citing Telangana, where Congress raised its vote share by 22%, he said the same is possible in Gujarat.
Earlier, he met district and block Congress leaders to gather feedback.
