PUCL Condemns BJP MLA Gopal Sharma’s Communal Slur in Rajasthan Assembly

– Raheem Khan
Jaipur: PUCL strongly condemned BJP MLA Gopal Sharma for shouting “Pakistani, Pakistani” at Congress Chief Whip Rafeek Khan in the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha on March 7, 2025.
PUCL Rajasthan President Bhanwar Meghwanshi called it an insult to an elected representative and a direct attack on constitutional values of equality and secularism. He said such remarks polarize society and undermine democracy.
He warned that hate speech is being normalized in politics. The Vidhan Sabha should focus on public issues, not communal provocation. Earlier, another BJP MLA disrupted the session with derogatory remarks on Indira Gandhi.
PUCL demanded strict action against Sharma and urged all parties to uphold secular values in legislative debates. Hate speech has no place in democracy.
PUCL Rajasthan General Secretary Anant Bhatnagar expressed solidarity with Rafeek Khan, stressing the need to protect India’s secular fabric.
