Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Supports Protests Against Proposed Waqf Amendment Bill

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has announced its support for the All India Muslim Personal Law Board’s (AIMPLB) planned protest against the proposed Waqf (Amendment) Bill at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, on March 13. The organization asserts that the bill threatens the religious and constitutional rights of Muslims, potentially undermining the Waqf system.
Maulana Arshad Madani, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has expressed concerns that such legislation could force the Muslim community to take to the streets to reclaim their rights. He emphasized that if the bill is passed, the organization plans to challenge it legally in various state high courts and, if necessary, escalate the matter to the Supreme Court, trusting in the judiciary to uphold justice.
In a related development, senior West Bengal minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury has vowed to defy the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the state, reflecting broader opposition to the proposed legislation.
