BJP Criticizes Telangana Government Over Holi Restrictions

The Hyderabad police have imposed restrictions on group movement and throwing colors during Holi to ensure public safety. The order, issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, is in effect from 6 pm on March 13 to 6 am on March 15, reported the Hindustan Times.
Reacting to this, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla accused the Telangana Congress government of having an “anti-Hindu agenda.” He stated, “Now, they are restricting Holi celebrations in Telangana. Hindus are being told how to celebrate their festival!”
Additionally, wine shops, toddy shops, and bars (excluding those in star hotels and registered clubs) in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate will be closed on Holi. Any violation will be prosecuted under Section 76 of the Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli.
Cyberabad police also ordered the closure of liquor shops and bars (except in star hotels and clubs) from 6 am to 6 pm on March 14 under Section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968. Officials stated these measures aim to maintain public order and prevent disturbances.
