Ex-Tehelka Editor Mathew Samuel Booked for Hate Speech Against Muslims

Kerala: Kerala police have registered a case against journalist and former Tehelka managing editor Mathew Samuel for allegedly spreading hate and misinformation against Muslims through his YouTube channel, “Samuel Mathew Official.” He has been booked under multiple sections, including charges related to inciting religious enmity and riots, reported the Hindustan Times.
Several complaints had been filed earlier against Samuel, but police were slow to act, causing disappointment among various social and political groups. Critics accuse him of exploiting sensitive issues to create communal tensions. His alleged targeting of the business sector in Erattupetta, Kerala, has drawn condemnation, with some claiming he is attempting to promote a “mini Taliban movement.”
This is not the first instance of such accusations. Previously, former MLA P.C. George and YouTuber Shajan Skaria were also booked for making Islamophobic remarks.
