Aligarh: Dr. Noora Abdul Kader, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been awarded a research grant of ₹3,00,000 for a study exploring the effects of short-form video addiction on adolescents.
The project, titled “Impact of Short-Form Video Addiction on Sustained Attention Span, Mental Health, and Academic Procrastination Among Adolescents: Developing Digital Self-Regulation Strategies,” has been approved by the Centre of Research at the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE), Gandhinagar, under the Namo Matrubhumi Mission Shardam initiative, supported by the Government of Gujarat.
Dr. Kader highlighted that the research aims to examine how excessive engagement with quick, highly stimulating digital content affects adolescents’ attention span, mental well-being, and academic habits. The study will assess how constant exposure to such content can lead to reduced focus, increased anxiety, and procrastination in academic tasks.
A key goal of the project is to develop effective digital self-regulation strategies to help adolescents manage their screen time, improve mental health, and enhance their academic performance.
