New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the party’s fight against RSS-BJP will continue. He credited the 2024 General Elections’ united opposition for stopping BJP from gaining absolute power and changing the Constitution. He stressed voter list management.
Addressing District Presidents from 13 states, 3 union territories, he highlighted the meeting’s importance before the AICC session. He noted INDIA parties restricted BJP to 240 seats. “Our ‘Save Constitution’ campaign exposed BJP-RSS’ secret plan,” he stated.
Congress won nearly 100 seats. “Had we worked harder, 20-30 more seats could have changed the government,” he said. This would have halted attacks on institutions, democracy, Constitution, he added.
Calling District Presidents “generals of Congress,” he urged them to lead on the ground. He described India’s economy as failing. “Rich are richer, poor poorer. Unemployment is highest. Inflation hit savings,” he said. Attacks on marginalised groups, women, poor, are rising.
Kharge demanded a caste census for social justice. He slammed the government’s foreign policy failures. “USA insults citizens, imposes tariffs,” he said. BJP governments fuel communal tensions to divert public focus, using media for their gain.
Congress’ fight is bigger, he stressed. “BJP distracts, but we must focus on real issues,” he told District Presidents. He accused the government of controlling institutions through ideology-driven figures.
Kharge pointed to voter list issues. “Discrepancies are increasing, especially in Maharashtra,” he noted. In West Bengal, the ECI admitted identical Voter IDs exist across states.
Rahul Gandhi also spoke. “Our fight is not just against RSS-BJP but for an India where all can dream and achieve,” he said.
