New Delhi — A workshop titled “Islamic Laws of Inheritance – Awareness Program” was organized by the dedicated members of Islahe Muashra at Masjid Nabi, Johri Farm. The program, held after Zohar Namaz, lasted for two hours and saw the participation of several community members and legal experts.
The Indian Islamic Research Centre (IIRC) expressed gratitude to the following contributors for their support and active participation: Br. Naushad Ahmad, Jb Abdul Malik sb (General Secretary, RWA Johri Farm), Br. Tariq sb, Br. Azharul-Islam (Engineer), Br. Shams Tabrez (Retired Principal), Dr. Faizan Azmi (Professor), Senior Advocate Qadri, Br. Yusuf, Br. Hasnain Akhtar (Principal), Br. Nayyar, Br. Tasleem Khan, and Maulana Asghar Ali Nadvi.
The session began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an (Surah An-Nisa 4:11), followed by Hadith No. 2719 from Ibn Majah and Hadith No. 2092 from Tirmidhi. These references laid the foundation for a deeper understanding of the Islamic guidelines on inheritance.
The workshop systematically covered the distinctions between Gift, Will, and Inheritance. Attendees were taught how to calculate the rightful shares of inheritance and the Will amount using mathematical formulas and fractional methods. Practical examples were shared to clarify the distribution among legal heirs, and many participants noted down the calculations for reference.
Towards the conclusion, attendees brought forward their own inheritance-related concerns, seeking clarity based on Islamic law. The positive response and requests for more such sessions reflected the community’s need for awareness in this crucial area.
Books such as Muslim Inheritance Awareness, Wirasat ki Faryaad, and Siraji se Pehley Riyazi, along with informative folders like Taqseem-e-Wirasat ki Ahmiyat aur Uski Bedari ke Tareeqay, Auraton ka Haq-e-Wirasat, and Inheritance Calculation were distributed among attendees by IIRC.
Additionally, the latest book titled “Muslim Inheritance – Case Studies” was donated to both the Masjid Nabi library and Senior Advocate Qadri. A special segment was also held to explain the newly released form, Application for the Distribution of Inheritance, including guidance on how to fill and submit it. Several copies were placed in the mosque library for public access.
IIRC thanked the members of Islahe Muashra and all attendees for their active participation, attentiveness, and commitment to understanding Islamic inheritance laws.
