Aligarh: Prof. Roobina Khan from the Department of Pathology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), delivered a lecture on “Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in Cervical Cancer” during a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and workshop organised at AIIMS Bhopal, as part of the institute’s Founder’s Week celebrations.
Addressing an audience of students, researchers, and healthcare professionals, Prof. Khan elaborated on the critical role of HPV in the development of cervical cancer. She emphasised the significance of PAP smear screening and HPV testing as essential tools for early detection and effective prevention, thereby reducing the progression and overall burden of the disease.
She also presented the latest cervical cancer screening and triage guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation and other international health agencies. She further highlighted recent advancements in HPV vaccination and discussed current recommendations regarding its administration.
The session reinforced the importance of public awareness, timely screening, and immunisation in reducing morbidity and mortality associated with cervical cancer.
Prof. Mehboob Hasan, Chairman, Department of Pathology, acknowledged Prof. Khan’s impactful work in the area of liquid-based cytology and praised her consistent efforts in promoting public health education.
