Maldives Bans Entry of Israeli Passport Holders Amid Gaza Conflict

In response to the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, the Maldives has taken a strong stance by banning the entry of individuals holding Israeli passports. According to international media reports, the move reflects the Maldivian government’s support for the Palestinian cause.
The bill, initially introduced in the Maldivian Parliament last year, was officially passed on Monday, and President Mohamed Muizzu signed it into law on Tuesday. A statement from the President’s Office confirmed the amendment to the country’s visa regulations.
The Maldives Immigration Service clarified that individuals with dual citizenship may still enter the country using a passport from a nation other than Israel. The government stated that the decision underscores its firm opposition to Israel’s brutal actions in Gaza.
The Maldives, known for its popular tourist destinations, has regularly hosted Israeli tourists. Recent statistics show that 59 Israeli passport holders entered the Maldives in February alone.
This ban marks a symbolic and diplomatic protest against Israel’s continued military offensive in Gaza, which has drawn international condemnation.
