Prestigious Recognition for AMU’s Department of Museology at National Conference
Aligarh: The Department of Museology at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has earned distinguished recognition at the National Conference on Implications of Climate Change and Conservation of Natural Resources & Cultural Heritage (NCICCNRCH 2025), held at Manipur University and co-hosted by the International Council for Biodeterioration of Cultural Property (ICBCP). The conference provided a platform for scholars and experts to discuss the intersection of environmental change and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Dr. Danish Mahmood, along with M.Sc. Museology student Mr. Shafiur Rehman, was awarded the Best Oral Presentation in the “Biodeterioration & Conservation of Cultural Property” category. Their online presentation, titled “Conservation & Restoration of Canvas Oil Painting of Nawab Mir Hameedullah Khan,” received high praise for its academic rigor, reflecting the quality of research conducted at AMU.
In a parallel achievement, Dr. Ameeza Zarrin, and M.Sc. Museology student Mr. Asif Farooqui, were awarded the Best Oral Presentation in the “Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage” category. Their research, titled “Documenting Aligarh’s Brass Art: Preserving Traditional Craftsmanship,” made an exceptional contribution to the documentation and preservation of local heritage.
