Large-Scale Protest in Hyderabad Against the New Waqf Law Led by AIMPLB and AIMIM

In one of the largest demonstrations against the controversial Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) led a public protest meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday. The event was held at Darussalam, the headquarters of AIMIM, and drew significant attention from the public. Among the attendees were key leaders like Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, the President of AIMPLB, Asaduddin Owaisi, the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, and a number of Muslim scholars from various sects and schools of thought, reported the Maktoob Media.
The protest was a strong response to the Waqf Amendment Act, which critics argue threatens the autonomy and management of Waqf properties. Speakers at the rally expressed their concerns about the potential impact the Act would have on the rights of Muslims, particularly with regard to the administration of religious properties and institutions.
Addressing the protesters, one of the speakers declared, “These demonstrations will continue until the Act is withdrawn.” The AIMPLB also announced that they would intensify their protests in the coming months, urging the Union government to repeal the Waqf Amendment Act. The call for sustained action was echoed by various leaders at the event, highlighting the widespread opposition to the new law.
The protest is seen as part of a larger movement mobilizing Muslims across the country against what they perceive as an encroachment on their religious and administrative rights. The AIMPLB has committed to organizing further protests and public meetings, underscoring their resolve to push for the withdrawal of the law.
