Bandi Sanjay Demands Transparency on Waqf Land Management in Telangana

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay, on Saturday, April 19, raised sharp questions about the management of Waqf Board lands in Telangana, urging the Congress-led state government to bring transparency in handling the properties, reported the Siasat.
Speaking at a BJP meeting held at the party’s Barkatpura office in Hyderabad, Sanjay alleged that the Waqf Board in Telangana oversees nearly 77,000 acres of land, with an estimated annual revenue of Rs 1,000 crore. He questioned whether any of this income had actually been used to benefit poor Muslim families.
He challenged the Congress government to reveal:
The total extent of Waqf properties in the state,
The quantum of income utilized for the welfare of underprivileged Muslims,
The number of encroached acres of Waqf land.
Sanjay demanded the release of a white paper on these matters, emphasizing the need for public transparency and accountability.
He further targeted the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi), accusing it of deliberately staying away from voting in the upcoming GHMC corporator and local body MLC elections to indirectly benefit AIMIM.
Sanjay also took a swipe at the recent AIMIM public meeting in Darrussalam, alleging that it was “orchestrated” by Congress leaders. He criticized both AIMIM and Congress for their opposition to the Waqf Amendment Act.
The BJP leader called on party members to actively campaign for N Gautham Rao, the BJP’s candidate in the MLC elections. Rao, in his address, stated that those who suffered due to AIMIM’s actions in Bhagyanagar were rallying behind the BJP. He urged Congress and BRS corporators to vote as per the public’s expectations.
Prominent BJP leaders including C Ramachandra Reddy, N Ramchander Rao, Marri Sashidhar Reddy, C Krishnayaadav, Premsingh Rathod, Bangaru Shruthi, and Kasam Venkateshwarlu were present at the meeting.
