Tea Seller Brutally Murdered in Araria, Body Found Near Canal

Araria, Bihar: Tension gripped the Jahangir Basti area under the Nagar police station limits when the body of 40-year-old Mohammad Kalam, a local tea seller, was discovered near the canal early Thursday morning. The deceased, a resident of Ward No. 18, was reportedly murdered by slitting his throat, and his body was dumped near the canal, reported the city post.
According to police, preliminary investigation suggests a case of premeditated murder. The motive appears to be an attempt to dispose of the body discreetly after the killing. Upon receiving information, police from Nagar station along with the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) rushed to the scene and began an in-depth probe.
Family members stated that Mohammad Kalam left his house around 9 PM on Wednesday and never returned. His body was spotted by locals the following morning, who promptly alerted the police. Authorities have sent the body for postmortem examination.
Araria ASP Ram Pukar Singh, speaking to the media, confirmed that the identities of the accused have been ascertained. “We are closing in on the culprits. Arrests will be made within 24 hours,” he assured.
The gruesome murder has left the local community in shock. Security in the area has been tightened, and police have increased patrolling and are conducting raids at possible hideouts.
