AIMPLB Temporarily Suspends Waqf Campaign Activities Following Terror Attack in Kashmir

New Delhi: In the wake of the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of nearly 28 individuals and left over 20 seriously injured, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a temporary halt to its ongoing protest programs against controversial amendments to the Waqf Act.
The Board’s President promptly issued a condolence statement, expressing deep grief over the tragic incident. As a gesture of solidarity with the bereaved families, the Board has decided to suspend its campaign activities for three days.
Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, National Convenor of the Majlis-e-Amal for Protection of Waqf Properties, a sub-committee of AIMPLB, condemned the attack in strong terms. “The terror strike in Pahalgam that took the lives of innocent civilians is deeply tragic and condemnable,” he stated.
He further announced that all campaign events organized under the Waqf Protection movement will be paused for a three-day mourning period. A circular to this effect has been issued to all state and district-level convenors, instructing them to immediately suspend the programs. However, he confirmed that the campaign would resume as normal after the mourning period.
The statement was officially released by Dr. Mohammad Waqaruddin Latifi, Office Secretary of AIMPLB, from the Board’s headquarters in Okhla, New Delhi.
