Jamia Hamdard’s Computer Science and Eng. Dept., SEST, Host 5th Int’l ICIDSSD 2025 Conference

New Delhi: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering Sciences & Technology (SEST), Jamia Hamdard successfully inaugurated two-day 5th International Conference on ICT for Digital, Smart, and Sustainable Development (ICIDSSD ’25) on April 22, 2025 at Hamdard Convention Centre, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

The inaugural ceremony marked the commencement of the International Conference on Innovation-Driven Sustainable and Smart Development (ICIDSSD’25), bringing together visionaries, academicians, industry experts, and budding researchers under one roof to explore the synergy between technology and sustainability.

The conference was inaugurated in the august presence of Mr. Hammad Ahmed, Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard and presided by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard.

ICIDSSD was conceptualised and headed by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam and its first edition was organised on March 15-16, 2019. Subsequently, successful editions were held on February 27-28, 2020, March 24-25, 2022 and April 23-24, 2024 with Springer as their proceeding partner. Each edition of ICIDSSD, receives immense support of Hamdard National Foundation, a testimony to the vision of Hakeem Abdul Hameed, Founder of the University and dedicated advocate of community inclusivity and development.

The distinguished guests and dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Farheen Siddiqui, Dean, SEST, General Chair, ICIDSSD’25.

Prof (Dr.) Parul Agarwal, Head, Department. of CSE, General Chair, ICIDSSD’25, provided a comprehensive glimpse into the remarkable achievements of the department across multiple domains, reflecting its commitment to excellence in academics, research, and innovation.

The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony of the conference was Mr. Ajay Chaudhry, IPS, Special Commissioner, Delhi Police. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised that the dimension of technology should be bringing peace, brotherhood to the society. As we have come together for this conference, let’s ponder over the tech solutions leading to betterment of society.

In her address as Guest of Honour, Ms. Ghazala Faisal, Dy. Director General, Department of Telecommunication, Govt. of India underscored that tech development needs to be sustainable. Each innovation brings with it new opportunities and unique challenges and such a platform offers a unique blend of academia, industry and government for achieving breakthroughs in R&D.

Keynote Speaker of the inaugural session, Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Global SVP, Chief Corporate Affairs & Public Policy Officer, InMobi Group offered her insights that academia is able to create the solutions with empathy which directly impact people. Today, AI is an important tool which has integrated into every field, technology is the ink with which we are writing the future. Amidst these advancements, it is important that the betterment of society remains our foremost priority and academia can be a crucial partner in it.

In his presidential remarks, Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard observed, today, the digital innovations offer unprecedented opportunities to address our most pressing global challenges, from climate change to food scarcity, and from healthcare accessibility to education. We stand at the critical juncture where the artificial intelligence, block chain, and quantum computing, are no longer emerging technologies, but a powerful force reshaping our society.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Richa Gupta, Conference Chair, followed by the National Anthem.
