New Delhi – Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, anger and unrest have erupted across the country. While demonstrations and protests against Pakistan have been organized nationwide, several Hindutva outfits have hijacked the narrative to launch a wave of hate against ordinary Muslims, reported the Dawat News.
In multiple regions, particularly in Ambala (Haryana) and Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Muslims are being directly targeted under the pretext of avenging the attack on Hindus in Pahalgam. Reports have emerged of mobs vandalizing Muslim-owned shops, initiating economic boycotts, and even committing fatal assaults.
In Agra, a Muslim youth was reportedly lynched after being asked about his religion. Several Muslims were allegedly dismissed from their jobs solely on the basis of religious identity. These acts of violence and discrimination have sparked fear and outrage among minority communities.
In Ambala Cantonment, protestors associated with right-wing groups ransacked five to six shops, assaulted shopkeepers, and dumped merchandise onto the streets. The violent outburst extended to the closure of two shops on Nicholson Road and Rai Market. The situation escalated to such an extent that police forces had to intervene and regain control.
Videos of the Ambala attacks have gone viral on social media, exposing the extent of targeted violence. Similar protests and destructive marches were held in Ambala city as well, with shopkeepers left confused and terrified.
Although the situation has now stabilized, police continue to monitor the region closely. Authorities have promised strict action against those inciting violence, but minority groups remain anxious as communal tensions simmer across multiple states.
The Pahalgam attack, while widely condemned as a cowardly act of terrorism, is now being misused to justify collective punishment of Muslims – a dangerous trend threatening India’s social fabric.
