Aligarh: The Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised the 9th Avicenna Clinical Pharmacology Quiz. The event witnessed participation from nearly 100 MBBS and BDS students, reflecting the institution’s dynamic academic environment and the students’ keen competitive spirit.
Designed to evaluate the clinical application of pharmacological concepts, the quiz primarily revolved around intricate clinical case scenarios. It unfolded in two stages: an initial screening round followed by a keenly contested final round. The event was conducted by Dr. Ammar Khalid and coordinated by a team of postgraduate residents under the mentorship of Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology.
Cash prizes totalling ₹10,000 – sponsored by alumnus Dr. Misbahuddin (King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia) – were awarded to the winners.
The team of Vibha Varshney and Ranak Sharma (MBBS 3rd Prof, Batch 2022) clinched the first prize, while Harshit Jain and Samardeep Singh (MBBS Final Prof, Batch 2021) secured the second prize. The third prize was awarded to Mukul Kumar and Ehan Hasnain (MBBS 3rd Prof, Batch 2022), and the consolation prize went to Farhan Mohammad Khan and Sameer Tahir (MBBS 3rd Prof, Batch 2022).
Congratulating the winners, Prof. Rahman lauded all participants for their commitment towards clinical pharmacology. He emphasised that such initiatives are pivotal in cultivating critical thinking and bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical practice among undergraduate students.
