MP Manoj Kumar Jha Urges PM Modi to Convene Special Parliamentary Session on National Unity and Security

New Delhi — In the aftermath of the tragic attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. Manoj Kumar Jha, Member of Parliament from Bihar and senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He urged the Prime Minister to convene a Special Session of Parliament to address challenges to national unity and citizen security.
In a letter dated April 28, 2025, Prof. Jha expressed deep grief over the attack.
He said Parliament—the “cornerstone of our Republic”—must serve as the space for collective mourning, solidarity, and the reaffirmation of justice and peace.
He stressed the need for transparent dialogue and cross-party engagement.
He added that moments of national pain demand a unified democratic response.
“The Parliament must come together to pay heartfelt homage to the victims of the Pahalgam attack, honour their memory, and reaffirm our shared commitment to the ideals of unity, justice, and peace,” Prof. Jha wrote.
He emphasized the need for open discussions between the government and all political stakeholders.
He said that building a shared national response through consultation and consensus would best preserve national unity and restore public trust.
Prof. Jha ended his appeal by urging that a Special Session should focus solely on the broader implications of the attack.
Such a session, he said, would send a strong and reassuring message to the nation.
It would show that Indian democracy is resilient and that the government stands in unwavering solidarity with all regions and citizens affected by violence.
