AMU Dept. of Foreign Languages Launches Second Edition of Bilingual Magazine Die Stimmen

Aligarh: The German Section of the Department of Foreign Languages, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) unveiled the second edition of its bilingual magazine, Die Stimmen (The Voices), on 26th April 2025. The event marked another milestone in promoting linguistic diversity and cultural exchange within the university.

Chief Guest Department of English and MIC PRO AMU emphasised the magazine’s cultural significance. “In an age increasingly dominated by fleeting digital content, Die Stimmen stands as a testament to the enduring value of thoughtful, bilingual literature. It serves as a bridge between languages and traditions,” she remarked.

Presiding over the function, Prof. Muhammad Azhar, Chairman of the Department of Foreign Languages and Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, commended the editorial team for their dedication. “This publication exemplifies the intellectual rigor and creative vitality of our students. It underscores our department’s mission to cultivate multilingual proficiency and global perspectives,” he stated.

Earlier, Mr. Syed Salman Abbas, Assistant Professor, noted in his opening remark, “From academic essays to creative writing, Die Stimmen captures the breadth of our students’ engagement with German language and culture.” He described the project as “a harmonious blend of linguistic artistry and scholarly inquiry.”

The magazine’s convenors Hammad, Ramsha Afzal, Samar Warsi and Shad Ali shared details about the publication’s development process. The editorial team emphasised the collaborative effort involved in bringing together diverse academic and creative contributions.

The second edition of Die Stimmen showcases an impressive collection of academic and creative works spanning multiple disciplines. Of particular note are the detailed reports documenting the experiences of DAAD scholarship recipients from the German section of the department during their studies in Germany, offering valuable insights into international academic opportunities.
