NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lashed out at PM Narendra Modi for not fulfilling his promise of ₹2500 monthly aid to Delhi’s women, calling it another “jumla.”
At a press meet today, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj slammed the BJP-led Centre. He accused them of betraying Delhi’s women. “Before elections, PM Modi said every woman in Delhi would get ₹2500 per month. He called it ‘Modi ki Guarantee.’ This was echoed by BJP leaders like JP Nadda and Amit Shah,” Bharadwaj said.
He recalled BJP’s poll promise. “They claimed the first Cabinet meeting would pass this plan. From March 8, women would get the money. PM Modi himself said this.”
But Bharadwaj said the scheme has become a tool of exclusion and deceit.
He explained, “Now, only one woman per family is eligible. Women aged 18–21 are excluded. No aid if you lack a ration card. Even mothers whose kids aren’t vaccinated are disqualified. This is betrayal.”
Bharadwaj questioned the changes. “What about women aged 18–21? You took their votes, but now deny them aid. Why?”
He pointed out another new rule. “Only BPL or ration card holders will get aid. But most women from Purvanchal in Delhi don’t have these cards. Around 80% of them are left out. Getting these cards has been nearly impossible for years.”
He exposed another clause. “Now they say even the ₹2500 won’t be given in full. A part will be ‘saved’ and given only when needed. Why this discrimination?”
He added, “If this is fair, why not apply it to ministers? Give them half salary and only when needed. Same with IAS officers. Why delay poor women’s money assuming they’ll misuse it?”
Bharadwaj accused the BJP of lies. “This Delhi BJP government came to power through false promises. From top leaders to local workers, everyone lied to win votes.”
He said, “They gave liquor, cash, clothes, gold chains, shoes and slippers to voters. Now, public trust is lost within months of forming the government.”
