In a joint statement, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, National President of Urdu Development Organisation (UDO), and Dr. Abdul Hai Khan, Co-Convener of World Urdu Day Organising Committee, extended congratulations to Dr. Md. Shams Equbal, Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), for his tireless efforts to revive NCPUL schemes.
The statement mentioned that for the past six years, NCPUL had been inactive, but thanks to the efforts of the current Director, all its schemes have been revived. This is indeed a significant achievement.
It was further noted that application forms have now been released for financial assistance, seminars, book publications, and the establishment of computer centres.
Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan said that it is good news for the Urdu community that under the leadership of Dr. Shams Equbal, the functioning and continuous activities of the Council are pleasantly surprising.
Dr. Shams Equbal has proven that even in today’s unfavourable circumstances, the promotion of Urdu is possible, and by raising demands with the government, the rightful status of Urdu can be achieved.
