Grand Mufti of India Backs Anti-Terror Efforts, Calls for National Unity

New Delhi : In a show of national solidarity, the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, has extended strong support to the Indian government’s efforts in combating terrorism, particularly in sensitive areas such as Kashmir, reported the Vartha Bharati.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sheikh Abubakr commended the government’s “principled stance” and lauded the armed forces for their dedication to protecting the country’s sovereignty and internal security.
He emphasized that terrorism is not just a threat to India but a danger to global peace and stability. “India’s strategic interventions and diplomatic leadership have the potential to counter radical ideologies and establish lasting peace in South Asia,” he stated.
The Grand Mufti also made a heartfelt appeal for national unity, urging citizens from all religious and cultural backgrounds to unite in support of the country’s mission. “We must act as custodians of our shared values and maintain the spirit of harmony in our diverse nation,” he wrote.
Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad serves as the 10th Grand Mufti of India and is the first Shafi scholar from South India. He is also the general secretary of the All India Muslim Scholars Association and the founder and vice-chancellor of Jamia Markaz Saqafathu Sunniyya.
