SEST-Jamia Hamdard, GDG Cloud-New Delhi and GDG-Jamia Hamdard Host One-Day Workshop on AI and Developer Tools

New Delhi: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (SEST), Jamia Hamdard, in collaboration with Google Developer Group (GDG) Cloud New Delhi and GDG-Jamia Hamdard, successfully hosted a one-day workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and developer tools. The event, held at the Convention Centre, Jamia Hamdard here Saturday, brought together distinguished academicians, industry leaders, developers, and students to explore the latest advancements in AI technology.

The workshop witnessed an overwhelming response with 1,200 registrations, out of which 300 participants were shortlisted to attend the event. Dr. Sherin Zafar, Organising Secretary of the workshop, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, alongside other esteemed IT professionals from across the globe. The felicitation of dignitaries marked the formal commencement of the event.

Prof. Farheen Siddiqui, Dean of SEST, extended a gracious welcome to all the dignitaries, while Ms. Gautami Tripathi, Organising Secretary of the event, provided insights into the initiatives and achievements of GDG-Jamia Hamdard.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam highlighted the transformative role of AI in various sectors, including education, finance, and decision-making, emphasising its growing significance in everyday life. His address set the stage for an engaging panel discussion titled ‘Chai Pe Charcha,’ featuring prominent industry experts: Mr. Hamza Akhtar, Associate Vice President, Kotak Mahindra Bank; Mr. Amit Chopra, Principal Technical Programme Manager, Microsoft; and Mr. Pranay Nanda, Customer Engineer, Google.

The workshop also featured insightful sessions by industry leaders: Mr. Bhaskar Nair (Partner Engineer, YouTube Music) presented ‘Beyond Basic Prompts: Advanced Context Augmentation with Google’s AI Tool’; Ms. Japnit Ahuja (Interim CTO, MAE) discussed ‘Building a Startup in the AI Age’; Ms. Snidha Kashyap (SDE-II, Expedia Group) conducted a hands-on workshop titled ‘Meme Classifier with Vertex AI’; Ms. Samridhi Bhandari (Sales Operations, SentinelOne) explored scaling with AI; Mr. Amit Chopra (Microsoft) spoke on ‘Product Mindset for Developers: Build Tech that Matters’; Mr. Pranay Nanda (Google) led a session on ‘Something Interesting about AI’; and Mr. Mohd. Kafeel Khan (Lead DevOps Engineer, MakeMyTrip) demonstrated ‘Building Smarter Apps with Firebase Studio.’

The event concluded with a reflective keynote, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and innovation in the rapidly evolving field of AI. The organising team extended special thanks to Mr. Hammad Ahmed, Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard; Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard; the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; IT staff; and all student volunteers for ensuring the seamless execution of the workshop.

The one-day workshop not only bridged academic knowledge with industry practices but also inspired participants to contribute to the ever-growing field of artificial intelligence.
