Violence against Christians is rising sharply in India. In the first four months of 2025, the United Christian Forum (UCF) recorded 245 incidents. These reports were received through UCF’s helpline (1-800-208-4545), showing a pattern of religiously driven attacks.
The UCF, which defends legal and religious rights, noted a major rise since 2014. That year, 127 cases were reported. The number grew steadily, reaching 834 in 2024.
From January to April 2025, there were 55 cases in January, 65 in February, 76 in March, and 49 in April. These incidents occurred across 19 states. Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 50 cases, followed by Chhattisgarh with 46. Other states include Jharkhand (17), Rajasthan (18), Karnataka (22), and Bihar (16). Even Delhi reported one incident.
The UCF helpline offers victims legal help and emotional support. It also guides them through legal steps and ensures their protection.
Human rights groups are alarmed by the growing violence. They demand stronger safeguards for minorities and punishment for attackers. The steady rise in attacks highlights the urgent need for government action.
