Lucknow Lawyer Sentenced to 10 Years for Filing False FIRs; Court Slams Advocate for Misusing Legal System

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — In a stern judgment highlighting the misuse of the legal system, a special MP-MLA court in Lucknow has sentenced a practicing lawyer to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for filing a series of false First Information Reports (FIRs). The court observed that the advocate had tarnished the image of the legal profession by deliberately abusing his position and authority, reported the Lawtrend.
The convicted lawyer, Rajesh Mishra, was found guilty of lodging multiple fake FIRs with malicious intent. The court strongly condemned his actions, stating that such behavior not only undermines the sanctity of the legal profession but also erodes public trust in the justice system.
Special Judge PK Rai remarked in the judgment that the legal profession is a noble one and should be practiced with honesty and integrity. “When a lawyer, who is expected to uphold the law, misuses it for personal vendetta or unlawful gains, it shakes the very foundation of justice,” the judge stated.
The court also noted that Mishra’s actions had caused unnecessary harassment to several individuals and had burdened the judicial system with frivolous litigation. During the hearing, the prosecution presented evidence proving that the FIRs were based on fabricated claims and were strategically filed to settle personal scores.
In addition to the jail term, the court has also imposed a fine on the advocate. The judgment is being viewed as a strong message against the exploitation of legal provisions by individuals who are supposed to serve justice.
Legal experts have welcomed the verdict, asserting that such stringent punishment is necessary to maintain the dignity of the legal profession and discourage similar misconduct in the future.
